The short version
Private video chat here is a 1 on 1 video chat: one call, two people, both able to see and hear each other. Nobody else joins, nobody watches from the side, and the call isn’t broadcast anywhere.
That makes it different from the two other ways people meet on camera online, live streams and group chats, where one person talks to many or many people talk at once.
You and one woman. Only the two of you see the video.
One host on camera, many viewers watching and commenting.
Several people in one room, most of them strangers.
FoxVideoChat does have live streams, but they’re a separate, one-to-many space. A private call never turns into one, and viewers of a stream can’t see your call.
On the call
On a private video call, she sees what your camera shows and hears what your microphone picks up — and you control both. These are the controls on the call screen; some sit behind the options button.
Mute yourself for a moment and the other person stops hearing you. Your video keeps going.
Switch your camera off and she no longer sees you; turn it back on when you’re ready.
On a phone, swap between the front and back camera without leaving the call.
Send a line of text without leaving the call — useful when a word gets lost or there’s a language gap.
One tap and the call is over for both of you. Nobody needs a reason.
For camera permissions, switching cameras and getting a clear picture, see our guide to camera and mic controls.
Getting there
There are three ways into a private call. Pick the one that matches how well you want to know someone first.
Open a woman’s profile, look at her photos, then tap Message to say hello or Video call to ring her straight away.
Already messaging someone? Start a video call from the conversation when you both feel like talking face to face.
Tap Start and you’re matched one-to-one with a woman. Each match is its own private call.
Video calls are billed per minute in coins at the rate shown in the app. If your balance runs low during a call, the app tells you.
Staying safe
Private means no audience. It doesn’t mean nothing can ever leave the call, so here’s what you control and what no video app can promise.
